γ-PGA is long-lasting moisturazing and endogenous hydrating. PGA Na is a natural, multi-functional and biodegradable biopolymer produced from L-glutamic acid through a fermentation process with a Bacillus subtilis. It is a water-soluble homo-polyamide consisting of D-glutamic acid and L-glutamic acid monomers connected by amide linkages between α-amino and γ-carboxyl groups.
Polyglutamic acid itself is difficult to be water soluble, and the PGA used in cosmetics in general is sodium ionized PGA, which has excellent water soubiity after sodium ionization, therefore, there is a direct label on the market with the name polyglutamic acid sodium (CAS 28829-38-1)
